37 Cambodian students bring home 42 trophies and medals from the International Math Olympiad in Singapore

Under the leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia, Cambodia has developed and grown in almost all areas, including the education sector, which has been developing on an equal footing on the world stage.

In fact, the Singapore International Math Olympiad 2023 (SIMOC 2023), which was held from 22 to 25 July 2023 in Singapore, was attended by 37 Cambodian students from 14 different public and private schools.

Yem Sophorn, Head of the Singapore International Mathematical Exam in Cambodia, told local news that this is the ninth year of the Singapore International Math Olympiad, with a total of 1,633 candidates from 25 countries.

The competition is divided into three programmes:

1: Math Olympiad Contest (private competition); 2: Mind Sports Challenge (Team Match); 3: Math Warriors Competition (team competition).

As a result, all Cambodian candidates received: Prizes for three high-ranking students; a 2nd place combination programme for 11th grade; and a total of 13 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 23 bronze medals.

“This is the first year that Cambodian candidates in the Singapore International Mathematical Olympiad have received top student awards and gold medals from this private math competition,” he said.
