PM Hun Sen reminds of allowing Westerdam ship docks in Sihanoukville port

Prime Minister Hun Sen reminded of allowing the Westerdam ship to dock in Sihanoukville port to save hundreds lives of people about more than three years ago.

This reminds was made when the Premier presided over the cerebration of 137th Anniversary International Labour Day on May 1 and the Groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a container terminal and the 70th Anniversary of Cambodia-Japan Diplomatic Relation in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province this morning.

Hun Sen reminded that more than three years ago, the Sihanoukville port did an important job of saving lives on board the Westerdam ship so that they could be safe and return to their respective countries. This is a humanitarian gesture of Cambodia.

He has received information that the Westerdam ship will return to Cambodia at the end of 2023 with the planned port of Sihanoukville to make a historic sign and show care of Cambodia on the right to life of people, not just for the Cambodian people.

Hun Sen thanked the management, staff and workers at Sihanoukville Port for their efforts to rescue the Westerdam ship at that time as the host, while other countries were afraid to allow the ship to dock.
